News: Show & Tell, Doodles, Games Night, Pastries and more
Three cracking events next week, pastries enjoyed, and some Skiff member recommendations
Coming up
Wednesday: Show and Tell
When: 12:30–1:30pm on Wednesday 19th July
Where: The Mess (kitchen)
Hosts: Caroline and Tom
The best little event in the Skiff world (to me!) Come and see a bundle of tiny talks during lunchtime. Come and tell everyone what you’ve been doing recently! There’s always something interesting to find out about your fellow Skiffmates. You can read about previous talks in June, May, April and March.
Wednesday: Doodle Club
When: 6:30pm onwards on Wednesday 19th July
Where: The Mess (kitchen)
Hosts: Jo and Caroline
Come, get your creative juices flowing and have a laugh too. Jo and Caroline are running the second Doodle Club night on Wednesday.
Here’s Jo describing the first:
“It was lovely, chilled out and creative, with added weird (including collages of Kings battling in hovering trainers, a swearing Disney homage and the recesses of Tom’s brain made visible), plus chats about cult TV shows, podcasts and books, obviously. Looking forward to the next one.“
Please let them know you’re coming on Slack so we have enough sketchbooks for everyone.
Friday: Board Games Night
When: 7pm on Friday 21st July
Where: The Engine Room (biggest room)
Host: Chris
Come and try new games and old favourites with new friends at Chris’s monthly board games night.
He has a stash of fun games, so don’t be nervous if you’re not usually into board games, regular players will explain how they work, and there’s a range to try so you’re bound to l find something good. If you have a game you’d like to share, please bring it along and introduce us to it.
You’re welcome to bring along some drink or a friend. The games range from 3 players up to 10+ and are all super easy to learn.
We’ll kick off at 7 but feel free to come along later, people tend to filter in and slowly join in.

JavaScript Brighton on next Thursday (20th) in the Walrus pub from 8pm. A lovely group who meet and chat about all things JS and web tech, run by the very chill Andy Friend. No formal talks, just relaxed conversation. Well worth checking out if you’re a web person.
Skiff Pastries
We got together for Skiff Pastries on Thursday morning. Pastries were yummy, the chat was great. Thanks to Caroline, Tom and Ben for putting it together.
